GIFT AID
INCREASE YOUR DONATION TO THE FOUNDATION BY 25%
Gift Aid is a simple way to increase the value of your donation to charity. If you are a UK taxpayer, we can claim an additional 25p on every £1 you donate to us, at no extra cost to you.
How do I Gift Aid my donations?
You can complete a Gift Aid declaration if the amount of UK income tax or capital gains tax you’ve paid in any tax year covers the amount of tax charities will reclaim on your donations.
You can check if you’ve paid enough tax to use Gift Aid, on the HMRC website.
Then, you just need to complete a Gift Aid declaration – there are different forms if you are making a single or multiple donations to us. You can use the buttons on this page to access the forms.
So, for example, you might make multiple donations by setting up a monthly payment to the Foundation. If you donate £5 a month, with Gift Aid added, we receive £75 over the year. This could pay for a Train the Trainer pack to be produced, helping schools to combat bullying and prejudice by delivering S.O.P.H.I.E. workshops.
Which donations qualify for Gift Aid?
Gift Aid can only be claimed on personal donations. It can’t be claimed on donations on behalf of a group of people or from money raised in raffles and auctions.
If you are a higher rate taxpayer, you can also claim back the difference between the higher rate of tax (40%) and the basic rate (20%) on the gross value of your donation to us.
For more information on claiming back higher rate tax and other Gift Aid queries, please visit the HMRC website.
What if my situation changes?
Changes to your tax status, name, address, or dropping below the taxable threshold, can prevent us from claiming Gift Aid on your behalf.
To update your details, message us on the form at the foot of this page or send us an email to: enquiries@sophielancasterfoundation.com. Thank you.
